What do you do, when you need an AND operation with two inputs, but you only an AND gate with three inputs available? You find the answer in the Boolean algebra ...

For the AND operation exists a neutral element. When this neutral element is applied to one of the inputs, it does not effect the result. (More on this in the topic "Boolean Algebra").

For the AND operation the neutral element is "1".
