Synchronous inputs have only in combination with a clock signal impact on the state of a circuit.
With Flip-Flops the R, S, J, K and D inputs are all synchronous inputs.
Most Flip-Flops have both synchronous and asynchronous inputs. Asynchronous inputs are independent of a clock signal.
