Experiment 3 - The Voltage in the Circuit

In order to understand exactly what is going on in the circuit in front of you, you also have to measure the voltage directly at the circuit.

Build it on the circuit shown. You measure the voltage U at three different points in the circuit.

At these three points you measure voltages of...

U₁ = 9 V, U₂ = 4.5 V, U₃ = 4.5 V

Here you realize...

U₁ = U₂ + U₃

In other words, in a closed circuit the voltage at the source (battery, U1) drops entirely on its way through the circuit (U2 und U3).
